Andrew
Simpson is an accomplished trial attorney with over 17 years experience
fighting for the rights of others. Although his firm presently
focuses on handling catastrophic personal injury cases, Mr. Simpson
has successfully represented clients with a wide array of legal
demands, including commercial litigation, complex trust and estate
drafting, creditor and debtor relations in bankruptcy, serious
criminal defense representation, DWI/DUI/DOS, and all form of
traffic charge representation. Through a commitment to preparation,
research, and state-of-the-art technology, Mr. Simpson has achieved
results for clients that reflect his dedication to the law, his
allegiance to the Code of Professional Responsibility, and his
personal commitment to one-on-one client service.
Within the personal injury context, Mr. Simpson has championed
the rights of his clients against insurance companies, Fortune
500 companies, counties, cities, school boards, and individuals,
known and unknown, who have negligently or deliberately caused
lasting harm to others. Although Mr. Simpson has handled hundreds
of personal injury cases, he would point to three cases of which
he is most proud:
- Mr. Simpson successfully represented a young wife whose reproductive
health was significantly compromised by the negligence of an HMO.
In a hard-fought, five-day, medical malpractice jury trial, Mr.
Simpson not only obtained a favorable verdict for his client,
he established case precedent that expanded the kind of damages
that may be awarded in certain medical malpractice cases in Virginia.
- In a trial that Mr. Simpson tried with his able colleague, Thomas
Curcio, Esquire, against one of the largest law firms in Virginia,
Mr. Simpson obtained favorable jury verdicts for a mother and
her 16-year old son against a negligent school bus driver (and
the local school board that employed him) in connection with the
catastrophic physical injuries the boy sustained in a school bus
accident. As chronicled on the front page of Virginia Lawyers
Weekly, this case established important case precedent for
all citizens wishing to avoid the sovereign immunities often enjoyed
by negligent school bus drivers in Virginia.
- Acting on a pro bono basis in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for
the Eastern District of Virginia, Mr. Simpson successfully represented
the interests of several elderly residents of Northern Virginia
who were abused by a 'con man' that systematically defrauded these
citizens (many of whom were disabled) of hundreds of thousands
of dollars. With the assistance of Mr. Simpson (who was interviewed
by the local T.V. news outlet, News Channel 4, in connection
with his efforts), the con man's attempt to avoid all liability
for his actions was defeated. With the assistance of Mr. Simpson,
the con man was subsequently convicted in state court for his
actions.
Mr. Simpson has successfully handled cases involving automobile
accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, school bus accidents,
pedestrian accidents, head and brain injury cases, and insurance
coverage disputes in a 'no-nonsense' manner. In light of his experience
in handling personal injury cases, Mr. Simpson has been asked
by judges and personal injury lawyers to serve as guardian ad
litem for infants and the disabled to assure their rights and
entitlements are properly protected.
Mr. Simpson is a graduate of the University of
Virginia (B.A., History, 1985) and the Emory University School
of Law (J.D., 1988, Dean's List), where he received a partial
scholarship and attended the school's acclaimed National Institute
for Trial Advocacy. As a result of his advocacy skills, Mr. Simpson
was selected by his faculty and fellow students to represent his
school in moot court competitions.
Mr. Simpson has been a member in good standing
of the Virginia State Bar for over seventeen years, and he is
currently a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and
the Alexandria Bar Association where he serves on the Judicial
Screening Committee. Mr. Simpson is admitted to practice before
the Virginia Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth
Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and
Western Districts of Virginia, and the United States Bankruptcy
Courts for both Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. Mr.
Simpson has appeared regularly in Circuit Courts and General District
Courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
While a zealous advocate on behalf of his clients,
Mr. Simpson is fully committed to treating his friends of the
defense bar with professional courtesy, respect and professionalism.

Testimonial #2
Dear Andrew,
I felt the need to thank you for the fine
work you did during my time
of pain and turmoil. It became clear to me soon after my
accident that it
was not going to be an easy task to settle adequately and
fairly with the
defendant. Your expert knowledge of personal injury law
and your
professional dedication to protect me and my position in
the case impressed me. It is my considered opinion that
your demeanor and ethical approach to resolving this litigation
made it come out in a positive manner for me.
Thank you and let me assure you that while I hope to never
have to retain you again professionally, I will not hesitate
to call you if the need
arises. Likewise, yours will be the only name I will recommend
to my friends and acquaintances should they have a need
for your services.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Ted W. Odle
